First elected as a Member of the Parliament of the Cook Islands on the 16th June, 1999 General Election.  Re-elected in the 7th September 2004 General Election and on the 26th

November 2007 Snap Election.

No Ministerial Appointments.

Minister for Environment Services and Outer Islands, 2006.

Service Information:

Became a public servant in 1976 after completing secondary school at Aitutaki Junior High School first in the Agriculture Department, later in the Police Department.  His longest service was as a Probation Officer for Aitutaki until he entered politics in 1999.

Visits, Conferences and Delegations:

Attended the CPA General Conference, Trinidad 1999; Parliamentarian World of Peace Conference, Korea, February 2005; Eco-Agriculture & Environment Workshop, Napier New Zealand April 2007.

Community Services:

Supporting all village, programme and activities sports, church and traditional leaders.  Financing small community projects.

Education:

Attended Amuri and Araura Primary school and Aitutaki Junior High School. 

Personal:

Mr. Kete Ioane was born in Amuri, Aitutaki to Ioane and Repeta Taua on 30th October 1950.  He is now married to Teinakore (nee Tuao) of Vaipae and they have three (3) children - one (1) boy and two (2) girls.  From his first marriage to Tereapii Tunui, Mr Ioane have (3) adult children - one (boy) and two (girls) and ….. grandchildren.
