First elected as a Member of Parliament of the Cook Islands on the 26th September 2006, Snap election.

Service Information:

Entered the Public Service in 1968 as a Community Officer and served both in Pukapuka and Rarotonga until the year 2006 when Mr. Peua entered politics. Just before entering politics Mr Peua on Pukapuka was appointed Deputy Register for the High Court 1990 and acting Island Secretary in 1999.

Community Services:

Secretary Pukapuka CICC church; Secretary Pukapuka Sport Association; Speaker for Roto village (Pukapuka); Advisor to all community in all areas, local, denomination, village matters, youth and families, etc.

Education:

Attended Pukapuka Primary school, then transferred to Aitutaki Junior High School where Mr. Peua completed the final class in Form 4A.  He then entered government service in 1968.

Personal:

Mr. Vai Peua is married to Mereana (nee …) from Pukapuka also and they have seven (7) children - five (5) boys and two (2) girls and they have 20 grandchildren.
