First elected as a Member of the Parliament of the Cook Islands on the 7th September 2004 General Election and re-elected in the 26th September, 2006 Snap Election.

Ministerial Appointments:

Ordinary Member of Parliament.

Committee Services:

Chairman of the Select Committee for Finance and Public Expenditure in 2005-06.

Service Information:

Businessman, owner of Pickering Motors Ltd, a motor vehicles sales business.  Currently venturing into tourist accommodation on Mangaia.

Visits, Conferences and Delegations:

Chaired the two Parliamentary workshop on Finance and Public Expenditure Special Select Committee for Members of Parliament and Heads of Ministries at the Edgewater Resort, Rarotonga.  The first workshop in December 2005 was administered by the Australian

Parliament and the second in March 2006 by the New Zealand Parliament.

Community Services:

Supporting most community projects on the island of Mangaia and sporting activities on Rarotonga.


Attended  Avarua and Nikao Side School Primary Schools and Nukutere College.


Mr. Winton Pickering was born on Rarotonga on 8th December 1962.  He is married to Michelle Turea (nee Meyer) and they have six (6) children.
